Empowering Confidence, Creativity, and Communication
By improving their attention span with challenging topics and a physical approach to our work. We don’t overuse technology. We work on the basis that it has it’s uses but where we can do without, we will. Like an abacus in a maths lesson.
We encourage participants to navigate self imposed boundaries without direct intervention from us, but with our support. We discourage reliance on others for thoughts and creative ideas, but suggest this is used to inspire and develop their own work.
Mentally and physically. Our classes are physical and active whilst also making time for reflection and calm. We encourage risk taking and working out of a self imposed comfort zone- allowing the student to feel more vulnerable, build resilience and cope much better in all environments. We set collective challenges and resolve them as a pack.
A black box theatre space is defined as “a simple performance space with black walls and a flat floor… the simplicity of which allows it to be used to create a variety of configurations of stage and audience interactions”. Which pretty much sums us up. We take a stripped back approach where superfluous costume, make up and mise-en-scene is sidelined for character development, presence and projection.
Black Box Drama Co. believes that Drama is for everyone. Whether you are destined to become the next star of stage and screen or you’re just looking to gain confidence, overcome anxiety or stand out from the crowd.
We bring years of industry experience, teaching experience and arts management experience- with previous students going on to achieve academic success at red brick universities as well as top London Drama schools. Equally they have found industry success in Live at the Apollo, highly rated BBC, ITV and Netflix dramas and even forging a career in Hollywood!
At Black Box Drama Co., we believe in the transformative power of drama. Our approach goes beyond performance; we focus on building essential life skills—confidence, resilience, and effective communication—that empower individuals to stand out in every aspect of life.
Our team are all fully insured, Safeguarding and First Aid trained and are enhanced DBS checked.
